Set in the late 18th century, this comedy was a story of love, betrayals, pistols at dawn, and cuckolds.
At Mitton Manor we later did the Restoration comedy ‘The Provoked Wife’. Jane Hughes had the title role. I was Sir John Brute, her boorish, drunken husband. At one point I had to carry her and then suddenly drop her onto the very hard, dry ground. She bore it very well.
