Shaffer’s psychological thriller about a psychologist and a very disturbed young man.

What an adventurous piece of theatre for an amateur society to tackle! My dad, Richard Hughes, played the incredibly complex character of the psychiatrist, Dr Dysart, and, alongside Dean Wright as the patient, created several moving theatrical moments. What I remember most vividly were the substantial monologues that Dysart had to deliver, to which our family were subjected on every car journey throughout the rehearsal period. I then went on to use one of these monologues in my Theatre Studies A-level mock exam, as I already knew it off by heart!
